Mpingo Conservation and Development Initiative (MCDI) is an award winning National NGO with a mission to drive forest conservation and rural development in the country by promoting sustainable and socially equitable uses of forest resources. Based in Kilwa District, Lindi Region, MCDI was established in 2004.

Women and Nature thrives in Kilwa district Southern Tanzania

When women thrive, nature thrives. Our WWF BENGO FLR Project is unlocking conservation agriculture opportunities for women's adaptation to climate change impacts. The project supported rural communities through MCDI to introduce sunflower cultivation in three villages of Mchakama, Nainokwe and Liwiti in Kilwa district.

Handing over of wood work tools to youth groups for carpentry business

Kilwa District Commissioner, Hon.Christopher Ngubiagai handed over wood work tools to Mchakama village youth group supported by MCDI. The target beneficiaries are 3 carpentry youth groups from 3 villages (Mchakama, Liwiti and Nainokwe) in Kilwa District with a total of 47 members (40 men and 7 women).
